Hearing device fitting

Hearing aid fitting
Each aid is ordered for you, programmed to your hearing results and checked with real-ear measurement, where a thin tube in your ear canal measures the sound the aid delivers.

Lyric is placed deep in the ear canal and worn day and night, with a new device every 2 to 3 months.

Hearing aid repairs
We repair most hearing aids here in the clinic with our own diagnostic and service equipment, rather than sending them interstate or overseas.
If your aids need to be sent away for repair, or you have lost them, we can lend you aids in the meantime. You can also drop in for cleaning and servicing.
- Cost, as of October 2026
- From $28 per aid
If a repair is likely to cost more than this, we inspect the aid and give you a quote before any work begins.
Earwax removal
Our clinicians remove wax by syringing (flushing with water), suction (a fine vacuum tube) or curetting (lifting it out with a small hand instrument called a curette).
The method depends on what the clinician sees in the ear and the type of wax. Hard wax cannot be suctioned, and soft wax cannot be curetted.
- An appointment takes
- 15 to 30 minutes
- Cost, as of October 2026
- from $100 for one ear or $165 for both
Treatment for otomycosis, a fungal infection of the ear canal, is priced separately.
Custom hearing protection

We take impressions of your ears at the clinic for custom ear plugs from Pacific Ears, an Australian manufacturer of custom-moulded hearing protection.
There are plugs for loud work, music, sleep and swimming. They usually arrive back at the clinic within 10 working days, and new impressions are recommended every 3 to 4 years.
