Background
About Dayle
Dayle studied audiology and speech pathology at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa. She started her career at a major referral hospital in the rural North West Province, where she saw a wide range of hearing conditions. She later set up and ran her own audiology clinic inside a private hospital in Johannesburg.
Her experience covers diagnostic audiology, which is working out what kind of hearing loss someone has. It also covers electrophysiological testing, which measures how the ear and hearing nerve respond to sound without the person having to answer. She works with adults and children.
Since moving to Australia in 2016 she has worked in adult aural rehabilitation, helping adults adjust to hearing devices and get more out of them, with a large not-for-profit organisation. She also mentors university students and newly graduated audiologists.
At this clinic Dayle sees clients from diagnosis through choosing a device to ongoing support. She fits and fine-tunes hearing aids, Lyric and assistive listening devices. She also switches on and maps cochlear implant sound processors, which means programming the processor to suit you. Her particular interest is tinnitus and hyperacusis, an over-sensitivity to everyday sounds. She bases each plan on your own goals.
